Asilah – “The Asilah Call,”
which wrapped up the inaugural symposium of the 29th session of the
Al-Mouatamid Ibn Abbad University, urged “the establishment of strong
and operational regional blocs in order to achieve economies of scale in
an increasingly globalized world.”
Participants to the symposium on
“Nation-States and Regional Unions in the South” (August 8-9), said this
approach is likely to create conditions of solidarity and ensure
economic and social development and peace and stability in Africa.
They welcomed in this context King
Mohammed VI’ initiatives aimed at strengthening synergy and
complementarity between African countries.
“The time has come to assess African
experiences in regional integration in order to identify the weakness
points of the nation-states which weigh on their stability” they added.
